**BIOGRAPHICAL SKETCH**
Minister Frances Willie-Chunn, accepted Jesus Christ, at the tender age of 12 years old, on Wednesday, August 18, 1965. Her decision was made at Owens Chapel Missionary Baptist Church, Huntsville, Alabama, under the pastorate of the late Reverend J. I. McGahee. While at Owens Chapel, she served as Sunday school Teacher, Bible Study Teacher, President of the Missionary Society, and as Minister of Music where she was instrumental in organizing a Youth Choir.
Minister Willie-Chunn accepted the call to the gospel ministry on August 25, 1985. She was licensed to preach on October 6, 1985 and was ordained to preach the gospel on March 29, 1987 at Owens Chapel Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Dr. H. Wendell Thompson. The ordaining body was the Flint River Missionary Baptist Association (the Ministers, Deacons and Laymen’s Union).
Minister Willie-Chunn, in July 1982, after 27 years of membership at Owens Chapel M. B. Church, associated with the New Jerusalem Missionary Baptist Church, under the pastorate of Bro. Ricky L. Sykes. At New Jerusalem Missionary Baptist Church, she served as a Sunday School Teacher, Bible Study Teacher, Chairperson of New Members Counseling Committee, Director of the Christian Training Union, advisor to the Junior Women's Missionary Auxiliary and as Director of Christian Education.
Minister Willie-Chunn, in addition to her church involvement, has served the Flint River Missionary Baptist Association as Field Missionary for the Women's Convention, President of the Women's Convention, Dean of the Christian Education Convention, Vice Moderator, and Moderator. In the Progressive National Baptist Convention, Minister Chunn has served as Corresponding Secretary for the Moderator’s Department and as the Alabama Liaison for the Mission Board. For three years, she taught a class in the Progressive National Baptist Convention entitled, “Wisdom Literature,” which was an overview of Psalms, Proverbs, Ecclesiastes and Job. In the Progressive National Baptist Convention’s Southern Region, she served on the Nominations Committee.
Minister Willie-Chunn, after a five year vision, obeyed God, in August 2008, to start a new ministry. On January 7, 2009, the vision came into fruition as she became the founding pastor/teacher of Christ Church. The first bible study at Christ Church was held on January 7th. On April 5, 2009, Palm Sunday, Christ Church held its first worship service receiving one person into membership.
After 19 years of membership at New Jerusalem M. B. Church, on Sunday, March 6, 2011, Minister Chunn associated with the Fellowship of Faith Church under the covering of Pastor Troy L. Garner.
Minister Willie-Chunn is a graduate of the Huntsville Bible College with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Biblical Studies. In 2004, Minister Chunn received the Master’s Degree in Ministry from Whitesburg Heritage Bible College. She is a member of the Greater Huntsville Interdenominational Ministerial Fellowship. She has received the MLK., Jr. Educational Scholarship Award from the Greater Huntsville Interdenominational Ministerial Fellowship; listed in the 1984 edition of the Outstanding Young Women in America.
Minister Willie-Chunn is employed by Indian Creek Primitive Baptist Church as secretary and is the proud parent of her son, Travis; her daughter, Renada; and her granddaughter, Brittney.
Minister Willie-Chunn’s life goal is not to live a vain life and to keep God's charge. Her motto is: "If I can help somebody as I pass along; if I can cheer somebody in a word or song. If I can show somebody he is traveling wrong; then my living shall not be in vain."
